The News is Out: Sammy’s Heading to Götzis!

After months of quiet preparation and keeping the news under wraps, we’re really pleased to share some exciting news: Sammy has been invited to compete at the prestigious Hypomeeting in Götzis, Austria, taking place on Saturday 31 May and Sunday 1 June 2025.

This annual event, held in the scenic town near the Austrian-Swiss border, is the highlight of the international combined events calendar. Götzis has a rich history and is known for attracting the very best in the world—three world records have been set there, including two by the legendary Daley Thompson.

Over the winter and spring, Sammy has been working hard behind the scenes—focusing on improving his speed, endurance, and technique. He’s been training consistently, with warm-weather camps in Tenerife and Portugal helping to fine-tune his preparations.

In particular, he’s made great progress with his approaches in the long jump, high jump, and pole vault.

Sammy will be joined by fellow British decathletes Lewis Church and Jack Turner, while the heptathlon will feature Katarina Johnson-Thompson and Abi Pawlett. It’s a strong international line-up too, with stars like World Champion Pierce LePage, Olympic Champion Damian Warner, Indoor World Champion Sander Skotheim, and Olympic silver medallist Leo Neugebauer all set to compete.

You can watch the action live or catch up later on  Eurovision Sport .

Event times (with Götzis one hour ahead of BST) are on the official website, click here.

Saturday’s schedule begins just after 10am BST, with Sunday’s events kicking off shortly after 9am.

We’re proud of how far Sammy’s come and can’t wait to see him out there. Best of luck – we’ll be cheering you on every step of the way.
