88 Years In the Making. Sammy’s New Long Jump Record
Sammy has clinched Reading ACs longest lasting club record. International athlete and Reading AC member William (Bill) Breach jumped 7.31 m in 1937 to claim the club record and that record has stood ever since. Bill sadly passed away in the early 1980s though his record remained intact for a further forty-five years or so. On Monday 26 May 2025 Sammy competed at the BIG meeting in Chelmsford and managed to leap a fantastic third round jump of 7.57m in a +1.6 wind. Sammy is delighted with his result and at the same time humbled to think about the history of that particular club record.

Sammy now goes on to travel abroad on Thursday with his coaches Rafer Joseph and Mike Dyer to be ready for the spectacular annual Decathlon in the Alps in Götzis, Austria amongst a star-studded line-up.
UK coverage of the event on Saturday 31 May and Sunday 1 June will be on Eurovision Sport.
